Visit to Wolfeton House Wednesday 16th November 11.00 am
Wolfeton House, the home of the Thimbleby family, is a relatively unknown, hidden local gem. It is a Grade I listed medieval Elizabethan house. It lies in the water meadows near the confluence of the rivers Frome and Cerne. The original courtyard section of the current building dates back to about 1480 and the house was embellished around 1560. Wolfeton has magnificent carved oak panelling, splendid plaster ceilings, grand fireplaces and unique stone great stairs.
The tour, specifically for members of the West
Dorset Arts Society, will start at 11.00 am and attendees will meet there. The house is clearly signed off the A37. The postcode is DT2 9QN.
